There are three common forms of arthritic conditions-osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout.

SYMPTOMS

Osteoarthritis typically involves a degenerative process of the large, weight-bearing joints. It is often associated with old age, in which small bony growths, called calcium spurs, and occasionally cysts appear on the bones and in the joints.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a very serious and painful joint disease, which often results in crippling disabilities for people of all ages inflicted. Joints tend to become tender, swollen and even deformed. Gout is caused by a build up in the body of uric acid, which is found in meats and other foods, and also produced in the body. When uric acid production is out of balance, or there is inadequate elimination of uric acid, gout occurs. Typically, uric acid build- ups can be noticed on the feet and ears.
